2008/2009 Burton Hero Review

Burton is playing with lots of different shapes for boards next year. They have a concaved Dominant board (this has rocker on the toe edge and heal edge), and they have a no-camber snowboard called the Fix. Burton is also putting out a late release reverse camber snowboard called the Hero for the 2008/2009 winter season. The rocker is similar to Lib Tech's with the rocker between the bindings.

Size Tested: 155 centimeters.

Pros: This board has a very good stiffness for all-around snowboarding. It's solid on jumps, and great for jibs. The rocker is just right so it doesn't throw off your landings. This board comes with EST and ICS, so you can ride the new Burton binding system with virtually unlimited stance options and no baseplates: this allows for a very direct board feel.

Cons: This board rides like a 155; it doesn't feel as long as the K2 WWW 155. Other than that, I was very happy with this board.

Overall Impression: If you are a Burton guy who is intersted in riding a reverse camber snowboard, the Burton Hero is for you. It rides a lot like the Skate Banana, but it has the construction and binding system that can only be found in a Burton board.

Score: I give this board 7 out of 10.
